On Saturday, August 17th, 2013, the Bay Area came together to change the game for kids!
Because of support from Take the Field, Coaching Corps will be able to provide coaches to 1,200 Bay Area kids living in low-income communities.
The 4 hour event was packed with on-the-field activities including: running the bases, five different sports zones, a Splash Hits Derby competition, a Kids’ Zone, and a Comcast SportsNet Sportscaster booth. Attendees were also able to take tours of the beautiful facilities and had access to the batting cages throughout the day.
There were also celebrity-athletes out and about on the field; Dave Stewart, Dave Henderson, Rickey Henderson, Dave Dravecky, and Sonny Dykes were out in full force, talking with their fans and cutting loose at the various sports zones. Comcast SportsNet Bay Area volunteers ran the fan-favorite Sportscaster booth, while their television and radio counterparts (Amy G, Bret Hedican, Ahmed Fareed. Brodie Brazil) participated in a variety of activities like the Splash Hits Derby, visiting the children at the Kids’ Zone, and even interviewing coaches and kids who were enjoying the wonderful San Francisco weather.
