Children learn critical life skills when they play sports, especially with a well-trained coach as a role model. Caring and empathetic coaches can have a lasting impact on all kids, but especially on kids in underserved communities dealing with the stresses of poverty, racism and failing schools. Because of the pandemic, opportunities to learn, grow and thrive have dwindled, and our kids will need people like you on standby to become coaches for the moment youth sports is back in action.
Get ready! Now is the time to change the odds for kids who deserve equitable opportunity to play sports. Sign up to coach and take our free trainings. Together, we can be ready for youth when sports return.
If your afterschool or community program needs volunteer coaches to get ready, we’re here to help!
Coaching Corps is the only national organization focused on bringing access to quality youth sports and trained, consistent coaches to communities of color faced with systemic disinvestment and inequity.
Smiles and High-Fives
While pay-to-play costs continue to rise, we believe that all children—regardless of ZIP code—should be able to play sports under a trained, caring coach. To do this, we developed a platform that enables volunteers and afterschool programs across the country to coach kids from underserved neighborhoods through a lens of equity and empathy, free of charge through philanthropic support. In line with Coaching Corps’ mission, we provide the following three services:
With the temporary suspension of youth sports, we can’t send coaches out onto the field – but we are still finding ways to be there for our young players by training school leaders and virtual volunteers to provide social-emotional support to students who don’t have those resources at home.
Your gift recruits, trains, and supports coaches who can make a real difference in the lives of kids. Plus, a portion of your donation will be matched by the Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund – meaning your gift, made now, packs an even greater impact for kids.
