2017 Game Changer Awards: Coach Highlight, Bobbie Owen

Bobbie Owen was looking for a fresh start, and he found it in the military.  After serving six years with the U.S. Air Force, Bobbie found Coaching Corps while on his G.I scholarship at California State University, Los Angeles. Bobbie began coaching and found that it helped him make the transition back to civilian life, and rekindled his lost sense of purpose. Now a coach for over two years with the same afterschool partner, Bobbie takes great pride in showing up for his players and being a guiding presence in their lives.

On January 27th Coaching Corps will hold its annual Game Changer Awards to celebrate the life changing impact of coaches and mentors, both on and off the field. Bay Area professional athletes George Kontos (San Francisco Giants), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), Kendall Graveman (Oakland Athletics), NaVorro Bowman (San Francisco 49ers) and Oakland Raiders Head Coach Jack Del Rio will reflect upon the mentors who shaped their lives.

Coaching Corps will also recognize three of our volunteer coaches whose service to the community demonstrates a true dedication to changing the game for kids.  The event will air on Sunday, January 29th at 9pm PST on CSN Bay Area. Click here to learn more.
