2017 Game Changer Awards: Coach Highlight, Angelica Flores

Angelica Flores’ family immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico City, Mexico when she was two years old. Through the California DREAM Act, Angelica was able to enroll at California State University, Northridge where she studies both Psychology and Athletic Training. Angelica has been with Coaching Corps for four seasons, taking public transportation two hours each way to basketball or soccer practice with kids as young as three years old. Angelica’s commitment as a coach demonstrates to her players that perseverance and dedication are important qualities to have when working to reach a goal.

On January 27th Coaching Corps will hold its annual Game Changer Awards to celebrate the life changing impact of coaches and mentors, both on and off the field. Bay Area professional athletes George Kontos (San Francisco Giants), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), Kendall Graveman (Oakland Athletics), NaVorro Bowman (San Francisco 49ers) and Oakland Raiders Head Coach Jack Del Rio will reflect upon the mentors who shaped their lives.

Coaching Corps will also recognize three of our volunteer coaches whose service to the community demonstrates a true dedication to changing the game for kids.  The event will air on Sunday, January 29th at 9pm PST on CSN Bay Area. Click here to learn more.
