Coaching Corps Takes to the Streets on MLK Day

On Monday, January 21, 2013, the San Diego State University Coaching Corps chapter took their service off of the field and into the community by participating in the 5th Annual Interfaith Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service event at Morley Field, Balboa Park.

Student leaders Sahar Osami, Melissa Pouch, Yesenia Sosa, and Cole Rapkin spent the sunny morning outdoors with garbage bags and gloves beautifying the park by picking up litter and clearing and hauling brush.

San Diego’s Coaching Corps Regional Coordinator, Robert Johnson, and Program Associate, Terceira Molnar were also there to volunteer.

Molnar witnessed, “It was a powerful and motivating day to watch how the SDSU Coaching Corps chapter came together with the community to be of service. The dedication and spirit of these coaches is an inspiration to their young players both on and off the field. They are not only coaches to our children, but committed role models and volunteers for the entire San Diego community.”
