A note from Lynne Lee, Coaching Corps Executive Vice President:
It is my pleasure to announce that Coaching Corps’ September Partner of the Month is Under Armour. This partnership holds a special place for me, given the commitment Under Armour has to the kids of Baltimore and across the country.
Let me explain.
It was six years ago when Under Armour provided seed funding to ensure that young kids of color could access the benefits of sports throughout Baltimore City. Together, we reached thousands of kids by providing well-trained, caring coaches throughout Charm City.
Recently, knowing the important role empathy plays in the social and emotional well-being of our children, especially in the wake of the pandemic, Coaching Corps took the extraordinary step of offering our Coaching with Empathy training free to coaches of youth in under-resourced communities. And while the ability to self-fund and provide this training is very much a credit to our donors and supporters, we were desperately in search of a partner who could help us launch this initiative nationally.
Without hesitation, Under Armour offered their resources and their platform to enable us to amplify this opportunity to coaches all over this country.
Thus, with Under Armour behind us, we have launched our first-ever national campaign, built a robust online platform for coaches, and teamed up with some of the most impactful community organizations in the country. As we manage the back-to-school season, still in the face of uncertain times, the need for empathetic coaches has never felt more important.
Coaching Corps is thrilled to level up awareness for this life-changing training and we are fortunate to have the will of Under Armour to ensure we can safeguard the well-being of kids everywhere.
This month, we will be announcing our next exciting collaboration with Under Armour, our new coach recruitment campaign, and a celebration of National Coaches Day.
And if you haven’t taken us up on our free empathy training, please take the opportunity to do so!
