Coaching Corps East Bay Hits the Town on MLK Day of Service

On Monday, January 21st, 2013, Coaching Corps East Bay members chose to spend their Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at The Gardens in Lake Merritt, Oakland.  Over 300 volunteers from across the East Bay participated in events geared toward beautifying the garden.

Coaching Corps staff, VISTAS, and coaches from across the East Bay enjoyed gardening and landscaping in addition to cleaning trash out of the lake and repainting boxes that had been tagged by graffiti or were in need of a fresh coat of paint.

“It was such a phenomenal event for [Coaching Corps] to participate in,” said Eric Jo, Coaching Corps VISTA leader. “It was an honor to serve on MLK day and give back to the community. I’m really looking forward to serving again next year”.
